SALT LAKE CITY -- The BYU men's basketball team looks to put Wednesday's tough loss against Utah State behind them Saturday afternoon as they prepare to face San Francisco in the EnergySolutions Arena.

After a rare game in which the Cougars' three leading scorers, Jimmer Fredette, Jackson Emery and Jonathan Tavernari combined to shoot 25 percent, Head Coach Dave Rose said he hopes his team goes with a better shot selection going forward.

"We settled for some pretty quick perimeter shots. I thought we could have been better," Rose said after Wednesday's game.

The Cougars will be fighting for their sixth win against a team in the middle of a five game losing streak. San Francisco has specifically struggled on the defensive side of the ball, allowing its opponents to score 78 points per game.

The Dons, led in scoring by senior forward Dior Lowhorn (18.3 ppg), defeated the Cougars in their last meeting, 84-72 in San Francisco in 2002, despite what was then a career high from star Rafael Araujo.

San Francisco leads the overall series against BYU 5-4, but the Cougars can even the score with a win Saturday.

The Cougars dominate every statistical category in this matchup, and it will be interesting to see if the Dons, who average only 70 points per game, will be able to keep pace with the Cougars, who enter the game averaging 82.5 points per game.

The Dons have a fairly young team, starting three sophomores and a freshman along with Lowhorn. Sophomore guard Kwame Vaughn is the other Don who averages double figures in scoring, with 13.7 points per game.

Tipoff is at 4:00 p.m. at the EnergySolutions Arena, where the Cougars are 3-2 overall.

The game will be broadcast on KSL Newsradio with pregame starting at 3:00 p.m. The game will also be televised on both KJZZ and BYUTV.
