A popular restaurant now is the target of a big class-action lawsuit. Applebee's is accused of misleading customers on calorie counts.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of every person who has eaten from the Weight Watchers Menu in the last four years. That could be millions of people.
Lawyers say an E.W. Scripps media investigation found the "healthy" dishes actually had more fat and calories than the restaurant claimed.
Applebee's says it takes calorie counting seriously. It also says portion size can vary because its meals are handmade. Its menu does say any change in portion size or ingredients will change the point value of the dish.
The attorneys say they may file suit against other restaurants like Taco Bell and Chili's, which also were found to have unhealthier dishes than advertised.
Scripps Howard News Service reports Applebee's has almost 2,000 locations in 49 states, 17 international countries and one U.S. territory. Thirteen locations are in Utah.
