PROVO, Utah (AP) — A Utah County Fair pig-wrestling event decried by animal-rights activists won't be held this year.
The Daily Herald in Provo reports that activists have protested for several years over the contest where four people try and get a muddy pig into a barrel.
Some protesters climbed into the ring last year in an effort to halt the event.
Fair director Mike Stansfield says the event was approved for 2016, but the contractors who usually provide the pigs declined to come, scheduling issues and past problems.
It's not clear whether the event will be back next year.
