NEW MILFORD, Conn. (AP) — Authorities in a Connecticut town say a man is facing charges after shooting a police officer during a standoff.
Police say 47-year-old Kevin Mohan had been threatening to kill himself when they responded to a condo complex around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Mohan refused to drop his handgun and fired at least one round. The bullet hit New Milford Officer Charles Cochran in the ankle. Other officers disarmed Mohan using a stun gun. Cochran was treated and later released from the hospital.
Mohan is facing charges of unlawful discharging of a firearm and breach of peace. He's been held pending a court appearance Monday in Danbury Superior Court.
Police evacuated the condo complex and the state police bomb squad responded because Mohan said he'd set up booby traps inside.
