STANDISH, Maine (AP) — A Maine high school's doors are closed to students as workers clean up damage from vandalism overnight that left part of the building covered in food and fire extinguisher residue.
Bonny Eagle High School in Standish was closed Tuesday after officials say at least one person broke into the building through a roof hatch in the school's new wing. Officials say the intruder entered the teachers' room, emptied a refrigerator and smashed its contents on the floor.
The school says the person also discharged fire extinguishers and smashed vending machines in the cafeteria. Officials say nothing appears to be stolen.
Officials say the roof hatches and all access points to the building are being inspected and re-secured.
Classes are expected to resume on Wednesday.
