WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — Wilmington's NAACP chapter is calling on state officials to help shed more light on the fatal police shooting of a black man who was in his wheelchair.
Wilmington police announced Tuesday they'd completed their investigation into the death of 28-year-old Jeremy McDole but didn't elaborate on the findings.
The News Journal (http://delonline.us/1rXhgbV) reports that Wilmington NAACP Vice President Ken Dryden released a statement Wednesday that his chapter is "outraged" elected officials haven't called on authorities to release the police report from the September shooting.
McDole was shot after police were notified about a man who had shot himself and was still armed.
A bystander's cellphone footage shows officers telling McDole to drop his weapon and raise his hands. The video shows McDole reaching for his waist before shots erupt.
