WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Authorities say a suspect in a stolen car was shot and wounded in South Florida while trying to flee police.

The Palm Beach Post (http://goo.gl/TJK29w) reports that a Boca Raton police officer spotted the stolen car at a restaurant Monday, and two West Palm Beach officers arrived moments later. The officers walked toward the car, and officials say the driver attempted to flee. The stolen car clipped one of the officers, and police say an officer opened fire, hitting one of the suspects.

Authorities say the car crashed into a street lamp. The suspects tried to flee on foot but were caught. One suspect was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries.

The officer who was clipped by the stolen car suffered a knee injury.

Officials weren't immediately releasing the names or races of the officers or suspects.
