SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — All nine people involved in a head-on collision are expected to survive after a teenager drove the wrong way on a Herriman highway.
KSL reports (http://bit.ly/1pyb8EE) that an SUV collided with a minivan Saturday night on a busy expressway after heading north in a southbound lane.
Police say the 16-year-old driver of the SUV likely didn't realize he was heading in the wrong direction until right before the crash.
Police say the teenager was not intoxicated, but they are investigating whether he was distracted. There was another 16-year-old boy in the passenger seat of the SUV.
The mother in the minivan was initially taken to the hospital after suffering some of the worst injuries, including a broken femur and broken ribs. The van also contained a father and children.
