SANDY, Utah (AP) — Police have identified the man found dead in a Utah basement apartment Monday.
Sandy police confirmed Tuesday that a gunshot killed 20-year-old Marco Antonio Ibanez. But Sgt. Dean Carriger says retracing Ibanez' steps and finding the person who killed him will be more difficult
Police say the body was discovered by a visiting landlord Monday afternoon.
Carriger says no weapon was found at the scene and that's one of the main reasons police are considering the death a homicide.
He says police are still sorting out whether Ibanez lived in the apartment. He says the house is a rental but the original renters may have been subletting to other people, who were in turn renting out other parts of the house, like the basement.
