IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — A trial has been scheduled for a man accused of threatening a Lemhi County sheriff with a loaded rifle earlier this year.
The Post Register reports (http://bit.ly/1hz9KxA ) rancher Blair Kauer pleaded not guilty in July to charges of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and eluding a peace officer. A jury trial is planned for Nov. 4.
Sheriff Lynn Bowerman and Chief Deputy Steve Penner were responding in April to reports that Kauer threatened several individuals with a gun when they tried to pull him over. Authorities say Kauer didn't stop until reaching his home in Salmon, where he then threatened Bowerman with the rifle.
Bowerman shot at Kauer, striking him in the wrist. He was later found to be justified in his use of force against Kauer.
