OGDEN, Utah (AP) — An ambulance driver has pleaded guilty to negligent collision for his part in a fatal crash in South Ogden in 2012.
Sean Stephens-Applonie's plea Wednesday marks a resolution to the 3-year-old case. He was originally charged with negligent homicide. He was sentenced to no jail time or probation, but ordered him to pay a $250 fine.
The wreck killed 88-year-old Arline Logan in July 2012. She was a passenger in a car that went through an intersection on a green light when it was struck by the ambulance. She died at an Ogden hospital.
The ambulance was driving with lights and siren on at an estimated speed of 56 to 62 mph, and transporting a critically injured car accident patient.
Other people involved in the accident escaped with minor injuries.
