OVIEDO, Fla. (AP) — Oviedo High School crowned its royal as it celebrated a win over Winter Park. Fox 35 Orlando reports (http://bit.ly/1DN1kJx) some of the loudest cheers came Friday night during the announcement of senior Sydney Davis for homecoming queen. The Oviedo Challenge League cheerleader also has Down syndrome. She is one of a small but growing number of teens with Down syndrome who have won the title in recent years. The trend has coincided with the popularity of the character Becky on FOX's "Glee," a sometimes devious teen with Down syndrome who made her fictional school's cheerleading squad and ran for prom queen.

Davis' fans say the 19-year-old's spirit sets her apart. On Friday night, she rode off in a horse-drawn carriage.
