SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Crews in Eagle Mountain have restored water service to most of the 2,500 homes affected by a water main break and expect to have the rest on line by midnight.

Eagle Mountain spokeswoman Linda Peterson says that the break happened Monday morning and workers located it several hours later.

Authorities say roads near Pony Express Parkway and Smith Ranch Road were closed to make room for the repair work, and most homes had been restored by Monday evening.

The cause of the break wasn't immediately clear.

Eagle Mountain is a city of about 25,000 people located about 40 miles south of Salt Lake City.
