(KSL News) Construction on a new federal courthouse in Salt Lake City could move forward, thanks to federal funding.

The project has been stalled for several years because part of the land needed for the new building is privately owned. But the federal government today pledged more than $16 million to buy the property and move the project from the design to the construction phase.

The new 330,000 square foot building will house the U.S. District Court, U.S. Marshals Service and support staff.
