SALT LAKE CITY -- From the moment KSL Newsradio went on the air Thursday with the 34th annual Radiothon to benefit Primary Children's Medical Center, the phones began to ring.
The reason for the yearly event is to help children whose parents cannot pay for the hospital care that they receive. Physicians donate their time, but there are other costs involved. In 2009, for example, there were some $14 million worth of need for children who had accidents or illnesses.
The Treasure family of North Ogden is one of those families benefiting from Primary Children's Medical Center. Brandy Treasure is receiving treatment at the hospital.
"I have high blood pressure, and we don't know why," Brandy explained. "We just looked at my kidneys and my heart."
Brandy has spent time at the hospital before -- she had her spleen removed when she was 5 years old. She said there are many things she likes about the hospital.
"The nurses are friendly and really nice," she said.
