SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- A Nevada woman who attacked a pregnant referee in southern Utah last year during a boys basketball game has been sentenced.
A judge ordered Melissa Cheeney, of Pioche, Nevada, to serve 10 days in jail after she pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor assault. The judge also ordered her to pay a $775 fine, complete anger management and life-skills classes and write a letter of apology.
During the game last year, Cheeney confronted the referee --- grabbed her hair -- pulled her to the ground and kicked her.
