EAGLE MOUNTAIN -- A teacher at Rockwell Charter High School in Eagle Mountain ate a cricket after owning up to a bet he made with students last week about the Oklahoma-BYU game.
Alen Howard, who teaches history at Rockwell, is a graduate of the University of Oklahoma.
Howard was so sure the Sooners would beat the Cougars last Saturday, that he said he would eat a live cricket if BYU could pull off the upset. The Cougars did just that, beating the Sooners 14-13 in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
After the holiday weekend, Howard was a man of his word and owned up to the bet.
On Tuesday, Howard delayed for several minutes, but with the urging and cheering from his students, Howard ate a live cricket with a scoop of peanut butter.
Several of his students caught the meal on camera and posted it on YouTube.
