(KSL News) -- Someone shot a Cedar City police officer tonight for no apparent reason.
Officer Jason Thomas had come to the aid of a motorist whose car had slid off the road near Main Street. Another car came by and someone inside fired at Thomas, hitting him four times, twice in the head.
Doctors say the officer will survive.
Police have identified the suspect as 30-year old Bryan Featherhat of Cedar City. He's described as 5-feet-11 and 260 pounds, with dark curly hair and brown eyes.
Police say Featherhat fled and carjacked another car. They found it a short distance away with footprints leading away from it.
