SALT LAKE CITY -- If you're looking for freedom on the road this weekend, you may want to head to Wyoming. A national group says that's where you're most likely to avoid traffic fines and fees.
The National Motorists Association is ranking states for the number of citations per capita, so-called photo-cops, toll roads, primary versus secondary seat-belt laws and posted speed limits.
The worst 10 states on the list are:
- New Jersey
- Ohio
- Maryland
- Louisiana
- New York
- Illinois
- Delaware
- Virginia
- Washington
- Massachusetts
Utah ranked No. 41 out of 50. Idaho ranked No. 49 and Wyoming was best at No. 50.
Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Cameron Roden says rankings don't matter to troopers as much as public safety. They'll be out in big numbers this weekend working on that.
