PARK CITY, Utah (AP) -- A man has pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the slaying of an acquaintance who repeatedly teased him.
Erik Kurtis Low, 40, entered the plea Monday in the May 2003 shooting of Michael Hirschey.
If a 3rd District Court judge accepts the plea agreement, Low would be released with time served and be placed on probation. He has already served more than five years.
Prosecutors have said Low shot Hirschey with a .357 magnum after Hirschey gave Low a wedgie. The men were in a group of people using cocaine at Hirschey's apartment. Witnesses say Low was the target of jokes and insults throughout the night.
In July the Utah Supreme Court overturned Low's 2005 conviction on manslaughter.
The plea agreement comes as Low could be retried on manslaughter.
