SALT LAKE CITY — Former Utah cornerback Keith McGill was selected by the Oakland Raiders as the No. 116 pick in the fourth round of the NFL draft Saturday.

McGill is the first player from the University of Utah to be selected in this year's draft and the fourth from the state of Utah. Timpview High School's Xavier Su'a-Filo, who played college football at UCLA, was selected No. 33 by the Houston Texans, BYU's Kyle Van Noy was selected No. 40 by the Detroit Lions where he will join former Cougars teammate Ziggy Ansah, and Utah State's Maurice Alexander was selected No. 110 by the St. Louis Rams.

McGill, a 6-foot-3, 210-pound cornerback from La Mirada, Calif., is the 20th defensive back and 14th cornerback to be selected in this year's draft.

He joins Buffalo's Kahlil Mack, who was selected as the No. 5 pick in the first round of the draft, Fresno State's Derek Carr, who was selected as the No. 36 pick in the second round, Mississippi State's Gabe Jackson, who was selected as the No. 81 pick in the third round, and Lousiana Tech's Justin Ellis, who was selected as the No. 107 pick in the fourth round.

Prior to the NFL draft, several draft experts projected McGill as a middle of the second round pick.

Also having his name called Saturday was Utah linebacker Trevor Reilly, who was selected by the New York Jets as the No. 233 pick in the seventh round. Reilly was projected as high as the fourth round, but had to wait until the seventh round to hear his named called.

Prior to the NFL draft, Reilly's health and age was called into question by some teams. As a result, it seems some teams may have not wanted to take a chance on him.
