COTTONWOOD HEIGHTS — A new song has been released in advance of Susan Powell's 31st birthday to honor the missing mother and her two murdered sons.
"Susan's Song: A Dream Away,", written by Camilyn Morrison, was performed at the end of a conference Saturday at the Ivy Girl Academy in Cottonwood Heights. The academy held all-day workshops in confidence and leadership training for girls ages 12 to 18.
Jennifer Graves, the sister of Josh Powell, spoke at the conference about what happened to Susan Powell and her two sons, Charlie and Braden. The two young boys were killed Feb. 5 when their father blew up his Graham, Wash., home.
Josh Powell was long suspected in the disappearance of his wife, Susan, who is still missing. Days before he killed himself and his two sons, he had been denied custody of the children and ordered to undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation.
"Susan's Song" is performed by award-winning vocalist Jessie Funk and is available for download on iTunes and Amazon.
Proceeds from the song will go toward memorials for the Powells in West Valley and Puyallup, Wash.
