DRAPER — A 4-year-old is in stable condition Monday after being run over by her mother.
The mom was driving a 15-passenger van when she stopped at her mailbox and let the older children out, according to police.
Unaware her 4-year-old had also exited the van, she pulled forward and ran over the child's legs, according to witnesses.
"It is a possibility the door was left open, so the door may have played a part in pulling her under the car," said Sgt. Pat Evans with the Draper Police Department.
The child was flown to Primary Children's in stable condition as more of a precaution than a necessity, Evans said.
He said it is not likely that charges will be filed against the mother.
"At this point, we are not looking at charges," he said. "Obviously what's more important is her condition — as long as she improves, we most likely will not (press charges)."
The child is in serious but stable condition.
