PROVO — Two Utah County businesses were robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night, and police believe the same man might have been involved in both crimes.
Around 9:30 p.m., a man went into Waikiki Tanning Salon, which is part of a shopping center at 2255 N. University Parkway.
The man fired a shot in the store, but did not hit anyone. He demanded money, got it and ran away.
Police have found the shell casing, but have not found where the bullet went.
And in Springville, police are looking for a masked man who robbed a tanning salon on Main Street just after 8 p.m.
Police say the man went into the Gold N' Glow salon, 1170 N. Main Street, pulled a gun on the clerk and demanded money.
Workers didn't open the safe, so the stole everyone's cash and purses and calmly walked out. No one was injured.
The suspect in the Springville robbery is described as 5 feet 8 or 10 inches tall, weighing 150 to 160 pounds. He was wearing a hoodie and a ski mask.
Police say it looks like the same man may have robbed both salons.
More information will be posted as it becomes available.
