SALT LAKE CITY -- Former Utah First Lady Mary Kay Huntsman sat down for an exclusive interview with KSL Friday afternoon, discussing her husband's bid for the Republican presidential nomination.

The polls have been disappointing for the Huntsman campaign, but Mrs. Huntsman does not believe they tell the real story. She feels Americans are connecting with her husband and will eventually realize he is who they are looking for as president.

"I have noticed, lately, something happening as I watch Jon get his message out. There is something that the media's not picking up and the polls are not picking up," Huntsman said. "But there is a silent majority out there, a hallowed out middle that is looking for a voice."

And Jon Huntsman Jr. is that voice, his wife said. More Americans simply need to recognize the name and listen to the candidate.

"He was on ‘Colbert' the other night and he's hoping for that Colbert bump," Mrs. Huntsman said. "There is something we are hoping for, but at least he is adding to the debate."

Getting candidate Huntsman out there is a family affair, she said. The seven children either weigh in or inspire.

"Our children have been tremendous. We would not be doing this if it were not for them," she said. "We have the three older girls and they have started a twitter, @Jon2012girls , and they are having a lot of fun."

Mary Anne, Abby and Liddy Huntsman hit YouTube today with a spoof of a Herman Cain ad, owning up to the shamelessly promoting their dad. Mary Kaye Huntsman said they take daily courage from sons, Jon and Will in the Naval Academy.

Jon and Mary Kaye Huntsman left Utah immediately following the dedication to return to New Hampshire, where Huntsman is hoping to make a stance in the Republican presidential primaries.
