Cleon Wall and Sandra Yi Reporting Layton police continue to look for someone who left a large number of pipe bombs near a car wash.
Sgt. Mark Chatlin of the Layton Police Department says it took 11 hours to detonate every device. "The number of the devices is estimated to be around 40 devices total. And, you know, yesterday we weren't sure whether or not they actually contained any explosives," he said.
Chatlin says every one of them did, but doesn't know how much damage they would have done.
Now they're looking for the person who left the bombs in a garbage can. "We've gotten a lot of calls from citizens, different things, a variety of different things, and currently our investigators are following up on every one of those leads," Chatlin said.
A worker made the discovery of the explosives at 9:30 Wednesday morning. Ten businesses were evacuated, and both Main and Angel Streets were closed until crews could detonate the devices.
Police are asking anyone with information on this case to contact the Layton Police Department.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF) has also been contacted about the case.
