SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- Low-income families in Utah will get some help this winter paying their heating bills. That's because Utah's poor has been awarded eight-point-one (M)million dollars in federal money.
The money is part of one-point-three (B)billion dollars sent to states, tribes and territories through the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program. (LIHEAP)
More than four-point-five (M)million low-income households across the country receive L-I-H-E-A-P assistance each year.
The program helps eligible families pay for home heating and insulation in winter and for home cooling in warmer months.
Individuals interested in applying for the assistance can contact their local/state L-I-H-E-A-P agency or at www.acf.dhhs.gov/programs/liheap/directry.htm.
