SALT LAKE CITY - Keeping up with the Kardashians? Try keeping up with the NBA trade rumors. A trade involving Pau Gasol, Lamar Odom and Chris Paul, once considered a done deal, is now off the table thanks to a late veto by David Stern and the NBA league office.

Celebrities, fans and NBA analysts reacted to the news of the blockbuster deal that would have sent CP3 to Los Angeles.

On Thursday afternoon it appeared that the Lakers had reached an agreement to acquire Chris Paul from the Hornets by sending Pau Gasol to the Houston Rockets and Lamar Odom to the New Orleans Hornets.

Twitter Roundup: The CP3 trade that wasn't sets social media on fire

Kaley Cuoco (@KaleyCuoco), an actress in the hit series "The Big Bang Theory", tweeted, "#lakers got Chris Paul? I like it..."

But in trading away Lamar Odom, Hollywood would have also had to say goodbye to his wife and co-star in the E! network reality show "Khloé & Lamar", Khloé Kardashian. Tennis sensation Andy Roddick (@andyroddick) tweeted, "Lakers trade away Khloe kardashian, Lamar odom, and pau gasol for my man chris Paul."

Jimmy Kimmel (@jimmykimmel) wasn't as enthusiastic to send off Khloé. "I absolutely LOVE Chris Paul @CP3 but am concerned that trading Lamar Odom could negatively impact upcoming seasons of the Kardashians."

Meanwhile, while the Lakers were courting All-star guard Chris Paul, the Jazz were in talks with Los Angeles point guard Jamaal Tinsley. Was Tinsley a Laker or a Clipper? Nope. Tinsley was on the roster for the D-Fenders, Los Angeles' D-League team.

ESPN700 radio host Spencer Checketts ([@espn700spence](<http://twitter.com/#!/espn700spence >)) tweeted, "I'll see your Chris Paul and raise you a Jamaal Tinsley." ksl.com intern Jarom Moore (@jarommoore) replied, "I fold."

What would unfold over the next few hours we can all credit to David Locke (@Lockedonsports). "Off to take the kids to Blue Man Group. Can't imagine what happens in next two hours in NBA."

Thanks David.

Just as soon as reporters all across the country started sending in stories as to how this trade would impact their respective teams, Yahoo's Adrian Wojnarowski (@WojYahooNBA) tweeted, "'The deal is off,' a source involved in the talks tells Y! Sports. 'It's dead.'"

NBA spokesman Mike Bass told the Associated Press, "It's not true that the owners killed the deal, the deal was never discussed at the Board of Governors meeting and the league office declined to make the trade for basketball reasons."

Fans of small market teams breathed a collective sigh of relief. Jazz fan @BlockU tweeted, "HALLELUJAH!!!", while comedian Josh Wolf (@joshwolfcomedy) tweeted, "Dear NBA, thank you for not letting Chris Paul go to the Lakers. Sincerely, Everyone Who Doesn't Live in LA."

The players that would have been involved in the deal weren't so enthusiastic. Chris Paul (@CP3) said it all in one word, "WoW". Lamar Odom (@RealLamarOdom) was concerned about what happens next. "When a team trades u and it doesn't go down? Now what?"

Deseret News Jazz beat writer Jody Genessy (@DJJazzyJody) was quick to dispel any rumors that Chris Paul was referencing Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko in his tweet, "I'm guessing this is not an Andrei Kirilenko tattoo reference. RT @CP3: WoW."

A few tweeters referenced the Kardashian family as playing a part in the deal falling through. Brian Smith (@UtahInsider) tweeted, "Who wants to bet that the Kardashian family got in the middle of the CP3 trade? Maybe they have dirt on an NBA league official."

Andrew Brandt (@adbrandt), NFL Business Analyst for ESPN, tweeted, "The NBA just sent Kris Humphries back to Kim Kardashian."

Most tweets were in favor of the NBA blocking the deal, and amazed at the actions of commissioner David Stern, even going as far to wish his power reached beyond basketball.

@leparks5 tweeted, "Irony: NBA finally stops unfair trade involving Gasol", referencing the 2008 trade that send Pau Gasol to the Lakers from the Memphis Grizzlies for seemingly nothing in return.

ESPN Bracketologist Joe Lunardi (@ESPNLunardi) tweeted, "Wish David Stern was in charge of the BCS."

Well, now if we can only get a few hours of sleep before the next round of trade rumors begin. It will be easier for some more than others.

Scott Garrard (@ScottyGKFAN), studio host of Utah Jazz radio broadcasts, tweeted, "My 9 year old is refusing to go to bed for 'basketball reasons.'"

But perhaps @LostTacoVendor got the worst of it all. "Thank you for your application to Harvard Law School. Unfortunately due to basketball reasons we cannot accept you into next years class."

Bummer.

@LostTacoVendor may not be going to Harvard, but at least the Jazz are out of the woods, right? ksl.com's managing editor, Josh Furlong (@JFurKSL) tweeted, "#Jazz fans, be careful, the #NBA might stop the Jamaal Tinsley signing. #Sarcasm."

Now let's hope that doesn't happen.
