BOUNTIFUL — A woman who died after being hit by a car while attempting to cross the street was identified by police Wednesday.

Patricia Zeigler, 64, tried to cross Main Street near 1520 North at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, according to the Bountiful Police Department.

“Witnesses stated the victim attempted to cross through a gap in southbound traffic, but may not have seen the oncoming northbound SUV before stepping directly into the SUV’s path,” a statement from police reads.

Zeigler was pronounced dead at Lakeview Hospital Tuesday, according to police. Investigators said there was no indication the driver of the SUV engaged in any inappropriate driving.
