SALT LAKE CITY— A recent poll on KSL.com showed that locals get their favorite steak in Utah at Ruth’s Chris Steak House.

The poll presented readers with 15 Utah restaurants that offer steak on their menus to choose from.

Of the 5,951 votes the poll received, 1,707 people voted for Ruth’s Chris Steak House. Maddox Ranch House came in second with 1,346 votes and Texas Roadhouse came in third with 833 votes.

Ruth’s Chris Steak House serves a variety of steak dishes, including a 12-ounce filet for $45, a 22-ounce Cowboy Ribeye for $53 and a 24-ounce T-Bone for $53, according to the menu.

Josh Cowart, general manager of the Ruth’s Chris Steak House location in Salt Lake City, said the high quality of the food is what makes Ruth’s Chris Steak House so popular.

“We’re the home of world-class sizzling steaks, but that sizzling goes beyond our steaks,” Cowart said.

Using USDA prime beef, the top 2 percent of all the beef in the U.S., Ruth’s Chris Steak House cooks its steaks in a 1,800-degree Fahrenheit broiler and serves its simply seasoned steak on a 500-degree Fahrenheit plate.

“Every bite from the first to the last is hot,” Cowart said. “That’s something that’s unique to Ruth’s Chris Steak House.”

The restaurant’s steaks are seasoned with salt and pepper and served with fresh butter and parsley, Cowart said.

“We’re very fortunate and honored that they chose us,” Cowart said of KSL.com readers. “It’s a high bar to reach, and we’re glad we can reach it and exceed it.”

Ruth’s Chris Steak House has over 130 locations nationwide. There are two locations in Utah: one in Salt Lake City and one in Park City. The Salt Lake City location opened on May 17, 2010.

“It’s all about the total guest indulgence,” Cowart said. “Making raving fans is what we’re after.”
