SOUTH SALT LAKE — A 31-year-old bicyclist was in extremely critical condition Tuesday after being hit by a car.
The accident happened just before 3 a.m. at the intersection of 700 East and 3300 South, said South Salt Lake police officer Gary Keller.
"From what we're seeing from witnesses statements, it appears the bicycle was crossing against the light," Keller said.
Investigators Tuesday said they believe the car had the right of way. Police were looking for nearby surveillance video to further investigate the case.
The cyclist, whose name was not immediately released, was wearing a helmet with a light, Keller said. It was not known Tuesday if the light was turned on.
The woman who hit the man was on her way to the gym, Keller said. She was not cited. Keller said there did not appear to be any signs of impairment.
