OREM — Crews worked to restore power to nearly 7,000 Rocky Mountain Power customers in Utah County Monday morning.

The outage affected about 6,971 customers in the 84097 area code, the company said.

Crews had expected to have all power restored by 10 a.m., but about 1,083 customers were still affected at that time. Rocky Mountain Power expects its remaining customers to have power restored by approximately 3 p.m.

The cause of the outage was not immediately known.

Separately, a car crash knocked out power to about 1,290 customers in South Salt Lake, the company said. Crews hoped to have power restored there by around 1 p.m.
