Weddle, Palepoi help San Diego to comeback win over Baltimore

SALT LAKE CITY — Down but never out, the San Diego Chargers trailed the Baltimore Ravens by a touchdown late in their regular-season game Sunday.

Despite trailing 33-27 in the closing minutes, the Chargers picked up a critical 34-33 victory to stay alive in the AFC playoff hunt.

Utah alumni Eric Weddle and Tenny Palepoi had productive afternoons. Weddle contributed six tackles and Palepoi finished with three tackles. Other performances from former Utes include Paul Kruger’s five tackles for the Cleveland Browns in a 26-10 loss to the Buffalo Bills.

Miami's Koa Misi contributed 13 tackles for the Dolphins in a 16-13 win over the New York Jets. Derrick Shelby also made three tackles for Miami.


San Diego outscored Baltimore 21-10 in the fourth quarter.

Also, Kansas City defensive back Sean Smith finished with two tackles in the Chiefs’ 29-16 loss to the Denver Broncos. Kansas City quarterback Alex Smith completed 15 of 23 passes for 153 yards and two touchdowns in the loss.

Minnesota running back Matt Asiata rushed 14 times for 52 yards, as the Vikings beat the Carolina Panthers, 31-13. Also, Ravens receiver Steve Smith had a catch in Baltimore’s loss to San Diego.

Seattle Seahawks running back Robert Turbin caught two passes for 47 yards, including a touchdown, as the Seahawks beat the San Francisco 49ers, 19-3, on Thanksgiving Day. Fellow Utah State alum Bobby Wagner finished with 10 tackles.

BYU alumnus Ezekiel Ansah had two tackles and a sack in Detroit’s 34-17 win over Chicago, also played on Thanksgiving Day.
