I'm just the messenger

People are contacting me, the reporter, instead of the person they need on several stories. In many cases they are asking me for more information, and I'm nice -- I email them back with what I know or what I've found through a simple Google search. But I'm getting a little tired of the "Deal or No Deal" emails!

I did a story months ago when the casting director for "Deal or No Deal" came to Salt Lake City. My email is at the bottom of the story. Excited people, wanting to be on NBC, are emailing me instead of the show -- even though I had the web team put a link to the show with the story. Doesn't matter. Here's one I got today:

Hello deal or no deal:) :) :), It has always been my dream to be on deal or no deal. I have several people tell me including my family that I would be a GREAT person for the show. How do I get the right connection and the right information? Would you ever consider coming to Grand Rapids MI to have people try out? I know I'd be a needle in a hay stack when it comes to people trying out but I do think I'd stand out. If you can take a moment to give me alittle info I'd appreciate it. Have a wonderful day:) Dawn P.S. I'm so excited already and this is just my first note.

It's just her first note -- is she going to flood my inbox? Ahhhh! I have written her back, explaining I'm just the messenger, and sent her the link to the contact info for the show. I wished her luck as well. I got another email recently from a young boy saying his grandma would be great on the show and would I consider her? I would; I'm not sure if "Deal or No Deal" producers would.

I'm also getting a lot of emails still from people who stumble across my story on West Valley code enforcement. I think people think I'm in charge of cracking down on ugly lawns across the state, because I've had requests to look at yards in Tooele, Taylorsville, Sandy and Utah County. Hey, I can only do so much!
