I love technology

When I first started at KSL five 1/2 years ago, we went out on stories with just our minidisc recorders. We would either drive the sound back to the station or feed it back over our 2-way radio system installed the news cars. This is also how we go live by the way.

Now we have laptops to edit the sound on, and wireless phone cards that plug into our laptops, so we can send the stories back via the Internet. It's been awesome -- so awesome, that I forget about the old times. Until now.

We got new aircards this week. Mine for some reason refuses to play nice. It won't connect for me. I can still get Wi-Fi in some places, but not all. This throws me back into the dark ages of radio. No, not back to cutting and taping film together for reel-to-reel or DAT tapes -- but close. Right now as I type this our computer-guru extraordinaire Steve is on the phone with Verizon as he goes into the bowels of my laptop to try and find the problem. He's totally speaking a foreign language as they figure it out together. I'm on Marc Giauque's computer in the next cubicle over. Sorry Marc, I'm eating all your candy.
