LOS ANGELES, Jan 10, 2007 (UPI via COMTEX) -- Actress Yvonne De Carlo, who went from World War II pinup girl to U.S. television's beloved Lily Munster, has died at 84 in Los Angeles.

Family members said De Carlo died Monday at the Motion Picture and Television Country House from complications of old age, the Los Angeles Times said Wednesday.

The sultry Canadian-born De Carlo made her name as a film "glamour queen" during the 1940s and '50s, but was considered an accomplished actress after appearing in some 100 films, including the epic "The Ten Commandments" and "Band of Angels."

The Times said she was also a singer who performed opera and appeared in nightclubs and on stage.

Her most familiar role was that of Lily, the vampirish wife of Fred Gwynne's Herman Munster on the 1960s television series "The Munsters." The CBS series lasted only two season, but inspired several TV movies and lives on in reruns.
