Utahns often say the summers are magical here. It's not hard to see why. Between the stunning 9:30 p.m. sunsets, the cool nights and the incredible outdoors, it's no wonder people are making the move to and settling down in the Beehive State.

Outside of the general beauty of Utah summers, there are several cherished celebrations in Utah Valley every year. From Provo to Payson, you can't miss these summer events. Don your cowboy boots or patriotic apparel and celebrate summer with traditional Utah Valley fun.

Freedom Days: celebrating Independence Day in Provo

You haven't lived in Utah Valley long if you've never attended the Freedom Days in Provo. Running from July 3 to July 5, this event is known for large-scale activities, including the Freedom Run, Grand Parade and Stadium of Fire, which collectively draw thousands of participants and spectators.

Freedom Run and Grand Parade

The Freedom Run kicks off the morning of July 4, featuring 10K, 5K and Kids' Fun Run options. The race winds through Provo streets, offering a patriotic way to get that workout in on a holiday. Following the run, the Grand Parade brings the community together with floats, performers and military tributes, reflecting the patriotic spirit of the holiday.

Stadium of Fire

The big highlight of Freedom Fest is Stadium of Fire at LaVell Edwards Stadium. This year's event, featuring the Jonas Brothers, Zion's Youth Symphony and Chorus, and, as always, a dazzling fireworks display, promises to be unforgettable. With high-energy entertainment and a patriotic atmosphere, Stadium of Fire is a must-see event for locals and visitors alike.

Payson Scottish Festival: a taste of Scotland in Utah Valley

The Payson Scottish Festival, scheduled for July 12 and 13, brings a touch of Scotland to Utah Valley. This event, now in its 35th year, celebrates Scottish culture with a variety of traditional activities, including Highland games, dancing and music.

Highland Games

The Highland Games are the centerpiece of the festival, featuring traditional Scottish athletic events like caber tossing, stone put and hammer throw. Both men and women can participate. The games will be followed up by an awards ceremony for participants.

Music, dancing and food

It wouldn't be a Scottish Festival without music and dancing. Bagpipe bands, Highland dancers and Celtic musicians perform throughout the event, creating a lively and festive atmosphere. Visitors can also enjoy Scottish cuisine, with vendors offering traditional dishes like haggis, bridies and shortbread.

Fiesta Days: Spanish Fork's annual extravaganza

Spanish Fork's Fiesta Days is one of Utah Valley's most cherished traditions. This week-long celebration, running from July 19 to July 24, offers activities for all ages. With a grand parade, rodeo, carnival rides and fireworks display, you'll come back every day for more.

Parade and rodeo highlights

The Spanish Fork Rodeo, now in its 82nd year, is an integral part of Fiesta Days. Locals showcase top-notch rodeo talent in events like bull riding, barrel racing and steer wrestling. You can attend the popular event on July 19 starting at 7 p.m.

The Fiesta Days Grand Parade, scheduled for July 24, is a spectacle for the whole family. With floats, marching band and local organizations filling Main Street with color and sound, it's the perfect way to celebrate the town's history and culture.
