LOVELAND, Colo. (AP) — Planning is in the works to build a new Veterans Affairs clinic in Loveland that will give veterans in northern Colorado better access to health care. The Cheyenne Veterans Affairs Health Care System announced that the clinic is expected to open by the winter of 2022. Construction should start by next summer and take two years to complete.

RENO, Nev. (AP) — Congressional Democrats are demanding the Interior Department produce an overdue report on plans to manage wild horses roaming federal lands in the West after its Bureau of Land Management estimated it will take $5 billion and 15 years to get overpopulated herds under control. Colorado Rep. Joe Neguse and six other Democrats say an update the department promised by July is three months late, and they need it to chart the horses' future. They say it's clear the current approach isn't working

BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) — A California man who told a Montana Highway Patrol trooper he had been in Yellowstone National Park to visit Yogi Bear has been sentenced to prison for possessing 8.3 pounds of methamphetamine officers found in a spare tire.

ALONG THE BURNT MESA TRAIL, N.M. (AP) — Conservationists and forestry experts are scouring the U.S. Southwest, hoping to gather as many ponderosa pine cones as possible to give nature a hand in restoring fire-scarred landscapes. Those helping with the project are taking advantage of a rare bumper crop that resulted from back-to-back summer and winter seasons of much needed rain and snow. Scientists say seed collection and reforestation are becoming more important across the West with the severity of wildfires on the rise.
