BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho House panel has spiked legislation to curb duplicate lawsuits over on-the-job asbestos exposure after opponents argued the proposal would limit victims' ability to recover losses. The House Judiciary, Rules and Administration Committee on Tuesday spiked a measure requiring people who file personal injury lawsuits for asbestos exposure to provide a sworn statement of every asbestos-related claim they've made or plan to make.
NAMPA, Idaho (AP) — A southwest Idaho school district is being sued following the conviction of an instructor for having sex with a student. The Idaho Statesman reports in a story on Tuesday that the parents of the girl filed the lawsuit in December against Nampa School District, Skyview High School and Tomas Fisher.
POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — When a ski instructor tried to jump between two trees while snowboarding down a Wyoming mountain, he says he crashed into the trees and impaled his lip. Natty Hagood told the Idaho State Journal that an 18-inch tree branch pierced through one side of his lower lip and out the other last week. He joked to a friend on the mountain that he got a new piercing and said the pain didn't set in until he got to the hospital.
BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A bill backed by Idaho's top schools chief to develop a new rural schools network narrowly survived the House floor on Monday, despite facing resistance from the state's top budget writers. House members debated at length on the proposal to form a three-year pilot project in which rural schools would collaborate and share resources.
