BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho House came to a surprise halt Monday after the state's far-right lawmakers took aim at bill to bring Idaho's notary public procedures in line with other states _ measures they fear could erode the nation's and Idaho's sovereignty. That faction of Idaho's GOP tends to be leery of any bills from the Uniform Law Commission, a group who drafts model laws to ease interstate and international interactions.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Idaho Senate has backed a proposal urging Congress to turn Idaho's Crater of the Moon National Monument into a national park. Sen. Jeff Siddoway, a Republican from Terreton, says the goal is to convert the 54,000-acre monument into a national park with no changes to how it's currently managed.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — A proposal to reverse two anti-abortion laws in Idaho is headed to the House floor. Earlier this year, a federal judge agreed to give the Idaho Legislature time to repeal two laws banning women from receiving abortion-inducing medication through telemedicine.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho House panel has killed a proposal to declare a school holiday on election days. Chief Deputy Ada County Clerk Phil McGrane said the bill would have allowed schools to continue serving as polling places without exposing students to possible dangers from having strangers come onto campus.
