RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — The U.S. Olympic Committee says Ryan Lochte (LAHK'-tee) and three other American swimmers have been robbed in Rio. USOC spokesman Patrick Sandusky says Lochte and the others left the French Olympic team's hospitality house in a taxi early today after the last night of Olympic swimming. Sandusky says the taxi was stopped by people posing as armed police officers, who demanded the athletes' money and personal belongings. He says the four swimmers are "safe and cooperating with authorities."

JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) — A Joplin, Missouri man is charged with shooting at two vehicles and wounding six people, including one man who's in critical condition. Prosecutors in two Missouri counties charged 26-year-old Tom S. Mourning with multiple counts of armed criminal action, first-degree felony assault and unlawful use of a weapon. Police say four people in a church van were wounded early Saturday, along with two dogs. Two people in a pickup truck were wounded a short time later. The shootings appeared to be random.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A busy North Carolina shopping mall has reopened for business as police continue investigating reports of gunfire that sent shoppers scattering yesterday. Pandemonium erupted and after several shoppers said they heard what sounded like gunfire. Some ran from the Crabtree Valley Mall while others huddled in stores. Police say they didn't find anyone who was shot or any shell casings in the mall.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana's governor says at least 7,000 people have been rescued from floodwaters in the state. But Gov. John Bel Edwards says their work is being complicated by cellphone service outages. He says an AT&T switching facility was knocked out by flooding. The company says it's working to restore service as quickly as possible.

LOS ANGELES (AP) — "Suicide Squad" isn't looking as bright in weekend two. The closely watched anti-hero film dropped an estimated 67 percent from its debut last weekend. But the poorly reviewed still topped the box office with $43.8 million. The raunchy animated comedy "Sausage Party" opened in second place with an estimated $33.6 million, followed by Disney's "Pete's Dragon" with $21.5 million.
