High on the agenda: the new U.S. air campaign against IS targets in Libya. Obama and Vice President Joe Biden made the short trip across the Potomac River to sit down with Defense Secretary Ash Carter, CIA Director John Brennan and other Cabinet secretaries.

GREEN BAY, Wisc. (AP) — Although he's still supporting Donald Trump, House Speaker Paul Ryan says endorsements aren't "blank checks." And he says he'll speak out against Trump's divisive positions if necessary. He told a Wisconsin radio station that he will denounce Trump's comments "in order to defend Republicans, and our principles, so that people don't make the mistake of thinking we think like that."

WASHINGTON (AP) — Melania (meh-LAH'-nee-ah) Trump's former modeling agent says Donald Trump's wife obtained a work visa before she modeled professionally in the U.S. in the mid-1990s. The comments appear to back up her statements that she followed U.S. immigration laws as she went from a Slovenian model years later to an American citizen. Questions emerged this week over Melania Trump's remarks that were inconsistent with U.S. immigration rule.

LONDON (AP) — Police in London say it wasn't terrorism -- but that hasn't stopped Londoners from reacting as if it were. Authorities say a knife attack last night by a Somali-Norwegian man, which left an American woman dead and five other people wounded, appears to have been "triggered by mental-health issues." They were able to stop the suspect by using a stun-gun. Police initially flooded the streets with extra officers and mobilized counter-terror detectives. And the headline in the Mail Online read, "Terror in London."

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia is urging its residents not to swim in dumpsters, after a rented trash bin was filled with fire hydrant water and transformed into a pool during a weekend block party. Organizers of the party said they power-washed the dumpster, lined the bottom with plywood and tarps and cushioned the corners with pool noodles. However, filling it with hydrant water caused the biggest issue with the city. For one thing, it takes water that should be available in the event of a fire.
