FISH HAVEN, Idaho (AP) — A 37-year-old Utah woman and her 11-year-old daughter have drowned in Bear Lake in eastern Idaho. The Jordan School District in Utah says Jennifer Lambourne of South Jordan taught at Eastlake Elementary and her daughter, Brooklyn, would have been entering sixth grade at the school.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Idaho lawmakers have taken their first step in reviewing the state's contentious faith-healing exemption law, which allows families to cite religious reasons for medical decisions without fear of being charged with neglect or abuse. Legal experts, child welfare workers and church-goers took turns testifying in front of a legislative working group on Thursday.

BOISE, Idaho (AP) — The Ada County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of an inmate at the Idaho State Correctional Institution south of Boise. The Idaho Department of Correction in a statement Thursday says it requested the investigation following the death of 31-year-old Jedadiah Daniel Guild.

BIG SUR, Calif. (AP) — A wildfire north of Big Sur near California's Central Coast has grown again overnight after burning for nearly two weeks. The fire has scorched more than 79 square miles and is less than 30 percent contained. It has destroyed 57 homes and is threatening another 2,000 structures.
