WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican frustrations with Donald Trump are reaching new heights, with party leaders looking to get Trump to abandon divisive tactics that have led to sinking poll numbers. The party's chairman, Reince Priebus, is asking Trump's adult children to help get him to change his tone and his strategy. But the most powerful Republicans in Washington and in Trump's campaign say things won't change unless Trump wants them to. Campaign chief Paul Manafort told Fox News that Trump is "in control of his campaign."

DENVER (AP) — At a Denver business where ties are being made mostly by refugee workers, Hillary Clinton has taken a jab at Donald Trump -- whose name-brand ties are made in China. Clinton told the workers today that she'd like for Trump to explain why he's paying Chinese workers to make ties, instead of making them in Colorado.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — North Carolina officials are hoping to delay enforcement of an appeals court ruling that overturned voter restrictions enacted three years ago. The appeals court found that the law must be blocked because it was passed with "discriminatory intent" against black voters. Lawyers for the governor and the state are calling for a delay in implementing the ruling. They say the state will soon appeal to the Supreme Court, and that changes to voting laws shouldn't be made so close to the November election.

NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks are ending mostly higher after a big jump in the price of oil helped the Dow break a seven-day losing streak. Energy companies led gainers along with the price of oil after the government said gasoline stockpiles shrank by more than expected last week. The Dow gained 41 points. The S&P rose 7 points. The Nasdaq rose 22 points.

MARRERO, La. (AP) — Authorities have arrested the mother of a 5-year-old Louisiana boy who they say was accidentally shot and killed by his 9-year-old brother. Generra Brown is charged with child desertion. Sheriff's officials say she had left the children unsupervised before the shooting yesterday evening. Investigators believe Brown -- a home health care professional -- was caring for a neighbor across the street when her 9-year-old son found a loaded gun and shot his brother once in the head.
