PHILADELPHIA (AP) — After basking in the triumph of being nominated the Democratic presidential candidate at the convention in Philadelphia, Hillary Clinton is catching a bus out of town. The bus tour takes her through two Rust Belt battlegrounds, Ohio and Pennsylvania, accompanied by running mate Tim Kaine and their spouses. Their themes will include economic opportunity, diversity and national security.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Hillary Clinton may have just accepted the Democratic presidential nomination, but she's crafted a message aimed at Republicans disenchanted with Donald Trump. As part of an expanded outreach, the final day of the Democratic National Convention featured speeches from a former Reagan administration member and a U.S. Chamber of Commerce official who is heading a GOP group supporting Clinton.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Authorities in San Diego say two police officers have been shot, and a suspect is reportedly in custody. The officers were taken to a hospital, but their conditions have not been released. The shooting comes with law officers around the country on alert following the killing of officers in Dallas and Baton Rouge, Louisiana, this month.

OSWIECIM, Poland (AP) — The visit of Pope Francis to Poland has taken him underground, to the dark prison cell of a Polish Catholic Friar who gave his life to save another man at the infamous Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz. A few shafts of light from a tiny window were the only illumination cast on the white figure of the pope, who knelt for many minutes. Francis also met with several survivors of the Auschwitz death camp.

NEW DELHI (AP) — Rescuers in western India are looking for workers possibly trapped in the rubble at a construction site where the top portion of a 13-story building collapsed. Officials say at least eight workers are dead. Building collapses are common in India, where high demand for housing and lax regulations encourage some builders to cut corners.
