PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Without mentioning names, President Barack Obama says he worries about the prospect of a President Donald Trump. In an interview aired on NBC's "Today" show, Obama says it would be scary to have a leader who lacks "basic knowledge about the world" and shows no interest in learning more about it. The president heads today to the Democratic convention, which has formally nominated Hillary Clinton.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The Commerce Department says orders to U.S. factories for long-lasting manufactured goods fell in June by the largest amount in nearly two years, reflecting a big decline in the volatile category of commercial aircraft. The key category that tracks business investment managed a small gain.

KRAKOW, Poland (AP) — Pope Francis has departed Rome for Poland. He will be spending five days meeting with young Catholics and visiting the site of the Nazi death camp Auschwitz as well as some of Poland's most important Catholic shrines. It will be the first visit by Francis to Poland.

BERLIN (AP) — Bavaria's interior minister says a man who blew himself up at a wine bar in the German town of Ansbach was in an online chat with someone immediately before the blast. News agency dpa quotes Joachim Herrmann as saying it's not clear whether the assailant was in contact with the Islamic State group or where the other person in the chat was. The bomber was the only person who died in Sunday's explosion.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Hollywood is hosting a benefit for the Pulse nightclub in Florida, where a gunman killed 49 patrons and injured 53 people last month. A spokeswoman for Pulse in Orlando says the benefit will be held Aug. 19 at the NeueHouse Hollywood in Los Angeles. The money raised will benefit the onePulse Foundation, which was formed by the club's owner.
