For all the history-making that's going to take place, there's still bitterness among supporters of Bernie Sanders, who's now backing Clinton. Some of them intend to go on protesting.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — A spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin is accusing U.S. politicians of being "paranoid" about Russia allegedly backing Donald Trump. Hillary Clinton's campaign has blamed Russia for hacking the party's computers and suggested the goal is to benefit Trump's campaign. Trump denies it. Putin's spokesman says American politicians are trying to play the Russian card during the campaign.

BEIRUT (AP) — Islamic State says a church attack in France that left an 84-year-old priest dead was carried out by two "soldiers" from the group. French officials say two attackers invaded the church during morning Mass, killing the priest and taking hostages before being shot and killed by police. Pope Francis is condemning the attack in the strongest terms.

BERLIN (AP) — German police say a patient has apparently shot a doctor and killed himself at a hospital in Berlin. In a tweet, police said that according to initial information, the doctor received life-threatening injuries. A series of attacks over the past days have prompted officials to call for stricter gun laws in Germany.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Police in Savannah, Georgia, say a mother took over her daughter's Facebook page and streamed a live video of herself beating the teen. The video shows the mother slapping and punching her daughter and berating her for posting provocative pictures online. No word on whether the mother will be charged. The case has been referred to child welfare authorities.
