STERLING, Virginia (AP) — Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton could announce today who her running mate will be. And two Democrats say that Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine is the leading contender. But they caution that Clinton has not made a final decision. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, a longtime friend of Hillary and Bill Clinton, is still in the mix.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Donald Trump says America is in crisis, and that he'll restore the safety that Americans fear they're losing, strictly curb immigration and save the nation from what he says is Hillary Clinton's record of "death, destruction, terrorism and weakness." Trump addressed the Republican National Convention last night, accepting his party's nomination for president.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is welcoming Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto (PAYN'-yuh nee-EH'-toh) to the White House today for talks on trade, climate change and possibly Donald Trump, the Republican nominee for president. Pena Nieto has said Trump's negative attitude toward Mexicans, including saying they bring drugs and crime to America and are rapists, has hurt relations with the U.S.

HELSINKI (AP) — Norway is marking the 5th anniversary of the bombing and shooting rampage that took the lives of 77 people, many of them children. Church services and wreath laying ceremonies today will mark one of the darkest days in the Scandinavian country's history, when Anders Breivik (AHN'-durs BRAY'-vihk) gunned down 69 people after exploding a car bomb at the government quarter in Oslo, killing eight.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Austin police have publicly released patrol car video of a police officer violently throwing a black woman to the ground whom he had stopped for speeding. Another officer tells the woman that black people have "violent tendencies" and whites are justifiably afraid. The incident happened in June 2015, but wasn't made public until the Austin American-Statesman published the video yesterday. Austin Police Chief Art Acevedo says a criminal investigation has been opened against both officers.
