PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A prosecutor at the detention hearing for Ryan Bundy says the key figure in the occupation of an Oregon wildlife refuge was working on a plan to escape from a Portland jail. The prosecutors says deputies searching Bundy's cell in April found torn sheets braided together in a 12- to 15-foot rope. Bundy told federal Judge Robert Jones the allegation wasn't true. Jones says he'll decide Tuesday whether to grant pretrial release to Ryan and Ammon Bundy.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Trial has been reset for next year for a 23-year-old former Las Vegas police Explorer accused of child sexual assault, kidnapping and lewdness involving an underage schoolgirl. Joshua Honea's new lawyer, Jonathan MacArthur, said Monday he needs time to review the evidence, but that Honea plans to fight the 41 felony charges that could get him life in prison.

ELKO, Nev. (AP) — An official says firefighters expect by Wednesday to be able to contain a wildfire burning in dry grass after apparently being sparked by a vehicle on Interstate 80 in northeast Nevada. Bureau of Land Management spokesman Chris Rose said Monday that no injuries were reported and no structures were threatened by the 2.5-square-mile fire near the community of Oasis.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — State documents say a former nurse who authorities believe killed himself shortly before exploding two powerful bombs in a rural Nevada town had previously been investigated over unaccounted-for morphine at the hospital where he worked. The state said it investigated Glenn Franklin Jones for two incidents in 2015 involving morphine at Grover C. Dils Medical Center in Caliente, where Jones had worked in recent years.
