ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) — Police have used smoke bombs to clear demonstrators blocking Interstate 94 in St. Paul during a protest sparked by the recent police killings of black men in Minnesota and Louisiana. The smoke was used just after midnight when about 200 protesters were in the roadway as police in riot gear slowly moved in.
BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Louisiana authorities say prominent Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson has been arrested during a protest in Baton Rouge. The reason is not yet known. Mckesson is one of the most recognizable faces to emerge from the Black Lives Matter movement.
SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (AP) — A fast-moving brush fire sent about 2,000 people fleeing from their homes in the foothills of the Santa Susana Mountains north of Los Angeles. By dusk, firefighters contained 15 percent of the blaze. About 750 homes were evacuated, but by late Saturday residents were allowed to return home.
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Authorities say an Amtrak train slammed into a car at a crossing in Indianapolis, injuring a woman and 3-year-old child who were in the vehicle. The Indianapolis Fire Department says the woman and her child were taken to hospitals in good condition. None of the 130 on board the train was injured.
TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A plane was diverted to Tulsa International Airport in Oklahoma after multiple passengers complained of sickness. Delta Airlines Flight 1817 was traveling to Denver from Atlanta on Saturday when it diverted to Tulsa after some of the passengers apparently became ill at the same time. The cause of the illnesses is not known.
